Taranto (Puglia, Italy) is home to Europe’s largest metallurgical plant, Ilva, which has been responsible for multiple social, health and environmental disasters for decades. The murals bring colour back to the walls of the old town, known as a half-abandoned district called the “fishermen’s quarter”. Porches and walled windows become the backdrop and dioramas for a new mytho- logical narrative of the city and its history.
